Veteran Programs
NAMI Multnomah recognizes the uniqueness of each Veteran’s service experience. We serve ALL Veterans and service members regardless of discharge status, branch of service, gender, identity, disability, etc.
1:1 Peer Delivered Services for Veterans: At NAMI Multnomah, we offer free one-on-one peer support for Veterans. These services are offered free of charge to Veterans and military service members, regardless of discharge status. While we focus on supporting peers in Multnomah County, we also are able to support Veterans in other parts of Oregon. Veterans may be referred by a provider or self-refer to our program using the referral form here or contact us at referrals@namimultnomah.org.
Peer Support Groups for Veterans: At NAMI Multnomah we offer free, drop-in, peer-led support groups for Veterans regardless of discharge status. Our Military peer support group meets weekly on Thursdays from 6:00-7:30 pm. Our Military Sexual Trauma peer support group meets on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month from 6:00-7:30 pm.
Veteran Peer-to-Peer: NAMI Multnomah offers a free eight-session course for Veterans who are interested in establishing and maintaining their recovery. This class is led by volunteers who are Veterans who have their own experience with recovering from mental health conditions. For more information about our upcoming Veteran Peer-to-Peer class, please contact dfraley@namimultnomah.org.
Veteran Family Support Services: NAMI Multnomah offers free one-on-one peer support for family members and loved ones of Veterans.
Veteran Peer Support Specialist Training: NAMI Multnomah offers a free OHA-approved peer support specialist training for Veterans. For information about training to become a Peer Support Specialist, see our page here.
Evening with the Experts: Each May, we host a series of experts to provide education on various topics related to mental health. In 2025, we partnered with the Portland VA to focus on preventing veteran suicide.
NAMI Homefront: An education program specifically for family members and friends of Veterans who live with mental illness.
